I don’t want the magic reveal to ever happen. Arthur will not be able to take it, he’ll cry, whine and make it all about him, like he always does. Merlin, and everyone else for that matter, deserves better.

Who the hell would be able to take betrayal after betrayal and then be betrayed by their best friend? Having magic and lying about it, lying about something illegal and in his eyes evil (which is perfectly justified from Arthur’s POV, actually) for year after year and even after his father dies, the lies continue and become more frequent and Merlin still complains about no-one knowing and not being appreciated when people don’t KNOW and it’s his own decision to continue like that… of course he’s going to be hurt, and maybe cry, but I doubt he’ll whine because he has no choice but to suck it up because that’s what’s expected of him.

Your best friend lying to you about something like this, not being able to trust you enough, not having as much faith in you as he claims… it’s a big thing. Don’t overlook it.

Also, if you’ve missed one of Arthur’s key traits - his SELFLESSNESS - then we’re watching a different show.

#i rly wanted to see like in this episode #or in 4x06 #where some other person is possessing merlin #like him being forced to do something to arthur #and just fighting it like #NO ARTHUR #GET AWAY FROM ME IT’S NOT SAFE #or something #and arthur just being like #i’m not leaving you #not until you tell me what’s wrong #and merlin’s just like i’m not myself right now someone is — #and then the other person takes over and pins arthur to the floor with magic or something #and there’s a dagger floating right over arthur’s heart #but arthur isn’t afraid at all #because he knows merlin can never hurt him #and merlin is just like crying and struggling to shake this person’s hold on him #and the dagger inches closer and closer and merlin is just like #arthur you have to go— #and arthur just stares up at him like #i trust you #and with that merlin finds the strength to break the hold on him for good #and just collapses in a heap on top of arthur #the dagger lying forgotten on the ground #and arthur just brings his hands up around merlin and holds him as he shakes uncontrollably #and h/c involves #and then stuff happens dicks were involved

oh I imagine her face when she finds out. How betrayed and lost she must feel. Because he knew what it felt like to have magic and to be alone, and he tried to help but he didn’t say what she needed to hear. And he she finds out that he has known what it’s like for all this time and she betrayed him and he betrayed her. High class angst.
